bbPress 1.x NOT officially supported by _ck_

February 2009
This is a very important notice to those who insist on running the newest 1.0 versions on live sites despite my warnings not to do so yet. You should only be running 0.9.x on live sites and 0.9 is the only version I can officially support at this time.bbPress 1.0 breaks many of my plugins and possibly others due significant internal changes. These changes are ongoing and I cannot keep adapting my plugins until bbPress "settles". It will be months before I start addressing the problems, most likely December at the soonest.
So there will be two options, don't upgrade to 1.0 or don't use my plugins with 1.0, until there is ample time for me to make the required changes.
Not trying to be mean or unfair, I just don't have the endless hours required to constantly patch things with every change. I have to wait until things settle.
Oh and last but not least, this is not a statement against the changes to bbPress. They are the result of much hard work by Sam - it's just an unfortunate step in the evolution of bbPress that breaks some backwards compatibility.
March 2009 update: there are now two plugin options available that will allow you to use bbPress 0.9 with WordPress 2.7. I highly recommend you use such a solution instead of 1.0 until 1.0 is stable and all plugins you want work with it. One solution downgrades WordPress's cookies to the method used in 2.5 and the other method allows bbPress 0.9 to use the newer cookies that WordPress 2.7 makes.

I'm starting the use of bbPress now and it's a really interesting bulletin board, specially for the integration with wordpress (since I'm using it's users manager to control all my users of my chat http://www.insidernews.com.br).
Do you have any prevision of when this new alpha is going to be released? I'm planning to wait until its being released to start learning it.
What do you think? Thanks!

You should not start with 1.0 alpha.
Start with 0.9 which is stable. You can always upgrade later but if you start with 1.0 you can never downgrade.

Ops, I think you already answered.
I will remove the 1.0 and see how to integrate it with 2.6.x

To integrate with WP 2.6 or 2.7 you either need to downgrade the WP cookies
http://superann.com/2009/02/26/wordpress-26-27-bbpress-09-cookie-integration-plugin/
or upgrade the bbPress cookies:
http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/freshly-baked-cookies/
Ann's method might be a little easier.

CK, with Ann's solution it worked out perfectly.
I confirm: 0.9 with WP 2.6 (or 2.7) with Ann's plugin it's the best solution.

I would love to assist in the transition to 1.0 compatibility in some of your plugins (especially bbpress attachments)

While I appreciate the offer, it's simply not practical.
It's something I have to do myself, check the bbPress source for critical changes. I also have to wait until they stop modifying 1.0 which is not likely to happen for a few months as it's really a beta despite whatever they call it.
When we get closer to December I will set up a way for people to report problems.

Understandable.
You gotta admit though, as premature their release of bbp 1.0 may have been, it looks REALLY nice
hahaha.
