I noticed an old post that was started one year ago saying 1.x is not supported.

Is that still true?

I've never officially supported anything beyond bbPress 0.9
Many of my plugins will work with bbPress 1.x but there are still a few popular ones that do not and I have not gone back to make changes to them (yet).
Some require simple edits to fix, always check the comments on the bbpress.org plugin page for each plugin to see.
The reason I'm asking is because upgrading to newer version usually include bug and security fixes. Is 0.9 still officially supported and maintained?
If you have an existing 0.9 install with my plugins and you try to upgrade to 1.x, it's almost guaranteed something will break.
0.9 codebase is supposed to get security fixes but the reality is no-one is doing it.
There is only one known security problem, check with John James Jacoby in this thread here
