You need to ask your webhost for help in making a directory for uploads if you don't know how.

Unless you've installed other plugins that accept uploads, this kind of setup is different.

chmod 777 is something you do to the directory to allow files to be written to it

An expert should be able to create it and chmod 777 in less than 10 seconds for you.

You can also do this from your FTP program.

I installed other more than 10 plugins successfully. So it probably isn't the problem the webhost.

I still get the message

Attachments
[failed] jj.html (6.2 KB)

I don't understand why.

If you do not know how to do this, ask your webhost.

The preferered location is above the web root but if the host cannot do that, then it can actually be located anywhere, you'll just have to edit the plugin settings.

I downloaded bbPress Attachments (0.2.9) yesterday.

I tried to upload to my forum a very small-sized file .

After I clicked the 'Upload' button the following was posted.

Attachments
[failed] jj.html (6.2 KB)

In fact, I don't understand what ck said at http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bb-attachments/installation/.

He said

make a directory /bb-attachments/ ABOVE your webroot ie./home/username/bb-attachments/
chmod 777 the above /bb-attachments/ directory

But I don't know what that means. What is chmod? What does it mean to make a directory above my webroot?
